How much does a bathroom renovation cost in Singapore?

At T Se7en Alucraft, a bathroom renovation costs from $1,000 for a basic upgrade to $15,000X or more for a fully customised bathroom. The biggest cost drivers are whether old tiles need hacking, how much waterproofing is redone, and the fixtures you choose. Prices below are per bathroom, as of October 2026.

Package

Price per bathroom

What it covers

Basic

$1,000 – $5,000

What Basic covers depends on the scope. New WC/ Basin, cabinet, and so on. regrouting, tap and shower set

Mid-range

$5,000 – $10,000

Hacking and re-tiling, waterproofing with water test, new fixtures, vanity cabinet, mirror cabinet

Premium

From $15,000

Everything in Mid-range plus full custom layout, frameless shower screen, cabinet, and so on.

 What changes the price:

  •     Hacking or overlaying: hacking old tiles costs more but lets us redo the waterproofing properly; overlaying is cheaper but keeps any hidden problems.
  •     Size and layout: moving the WC, basin or shower needs new pipe routing.
  •     Fixtures and finishes: a smart toilet or large-format tiles can add about 20-30% more $X – $X on their own.
  •     Both toilets at once: doing them together usually costs less than two separate jobs, because hacking, haulage and waterproofing are scheduled together.

Costs often left out of quotes: plumbing re-routing, electrical work (heater points, lighting), and haulage and debris disposal. Our quotes list these as separate lines. For an item-by-item breakdown, see our HDB toilet renovation cost guide.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

A basic bathroom upgrade takes 1 to 2 weeks, and a full remodel with hacking, waterproofing and re-tiling takes 3 to 4 weeks. Renovating both HDB toilets together takes about 2X weeks. Time for HDB or MCST approval comes before this and usually takes X3-5 days.

How do we waterproof a bathroom?

Most bathroom problems in Singapore homes start with failed waterproofing: stains on the ceiling below, damp skirting outside the toilet, or mould behind the vanity. This is the step you cannot see once the tiles are down, so this is exactly what we do:

  1. We remove the old screed down to the concrete slab, so the new membrane bonds to a sound surface.
  2. We apply waterproofing coats across the whole floor and turn it up the walls.
  3. We flood the floor and leave it for 24/48 hours. If the water level drops or the ceiling below shows any damp, we fix it before any tile goes down.

What are the HDB rules for bathroom renovation?

HDB sets rules on when and how a flat’s bathroom can be renovated, and condos have their own MCST rules. The points that matter most for bathrooms are:

  • New flats: within the first 3 years of key collection, you cannot hack or replace the original bathroom wall and floor tiles unless you are comfortable with forgoing the warranty given by HDB.
  • Registered contractor: bathroom works must be carried out by an HDB-registered renovation contractor. We are registered.
  • Approval before work: hacking tiles or needs approval first.
  • Working hours and notice: noisy works such as hacking are limited to set hours, and neighbours must be informed before work starts.
  • Condos: your MCST usually needs a renovation application, a deposit and approved working hours.

Read the full rules on the HDB renovation guidelines page. If you are also redoing the kitchen, the HDB rules for kitchen renovation work the same way, and we can schedule both under one approval.

How can you make a small HDB bathroom feel bigger?

Most HDB common toilets are small and narrow, so layout matters more than finishes. These changes make the biggest difference:

  • Wall-hung WC and floating vanity: the floor stays clear, which makes the room look larger and mopping faster.
  • Glass partition between wet and dry zones: water stays in the shower, so the rest of the floor stays dry.
  • Sliding or bi-fold door: frees the space a swing door needs.
  • Mirror cabinet instead of a plain mirror: adds storage without taking floor space.
  • Recessed wall niches in the shower: replace racks that rust and collect grime.
  • One large mirror plus lighting at vanity height: makes the room feel wider and helps with shaving and make-up.

Which materials last in Singapore’s humid bathrooms?

In a bathroom that is wet every day and rarely dries out, materials fail in a predictable order: grout first, then wooden cabinets, then fixtures. This is what we use and why.

Part

Our choice

Why

Floor tiles

Matte or textured tiles, anti-slip rating R10 or higher

Less slippery when wet; safer for elderly and children

Grout

Grout that are suitable for wet areas

Mold has less to grow on; easier to clean than cement grout

Vanity cabinet

Aluminium carcass, with aluminium, laminate or wood-look doors

Wood-based boards swell and grow mould in wet bathrooms; aluminium does not rot and termites cannot eat it

Vanity top

Quartz, sintered stone or solid surface

Quartz for durability at mid price, sintered stone for heat and scratch resistance, solid surface for lowest cost

Shower screen

Frameless tempered glass, frosted or sliding

Frameless for easy cleaning; sliding for tight spaces

How to choose a bathroom renovation contractor in Singapore

Check these before you sign:

  •     HDB registration (for HDB flats) and photos of bathrooms they have actually done
  •     A written warranty that names waterproofing separately, with the number of years
  •     An itemised quote, not one lump sum
  •     Who does the work: in-house team or subcontractors

Questions to ask:

  •     Is waterproofing included, how many coats, and is there a water test?
  •     Will you hack the old tiles or overlay them?
  •     Who supplies the tiles and fixtures, and can I choose my own?
  •     What happens if there is a leak after handover, and how fast do you respond?

If you are planning a larger project, we also handle kitchen renovation and whole-home renovation, so both rooms can be done by one team on one schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

At T Se7en Alucraft, a basic bathroom upgrade starts from $1,000, a mid-range renovation with hacking, waterproofing, re-tiling and a new vanity from $5,000, and a fully customised bathroom from $15,000. The final price depends mainly on whether old tiles are hacked and which fixtures you choose.

A basic upgrade takes a couple days depending on conditions. A full renovation with hacking, waterproofing, a water test and re-tiling takes 3 to 4 weeks. Approval from HDB, where needed, comes before this.

Yes, for works such as hacking or replacing wall and floor tiles or changing the layout, and the work must be done by an HDB-registered contractor. Replacing a WC, basin or vanity usually does not need approval. We apply on your behalf.

Yes, and it usually costs less than two separate jobs because hacking, waterproofing and haulage are done together. It takes about 2-3 weeks, and you will be without a working toilet for part of that time, so plan to stay elsewhere for a few days.

Hack if the bathroom has leaks, hollow tiles or is more than about 15 years old, because the waterproofing underneath might need redoing. Overlay can work for a BTO or a recently renovated bathroom with no leaks, and costs less. New flats cannot be hacked in the first 5 years.

Mould needs trapped moisture. Proper waterproofing stops water seeping into walls, epoxy grout does not absorb water like cement grout, and an aluminium vanity does not swell or rot. Keep the exhaust fan or window open after showers so the room dries.

In a wet bathroom, usually yes. Wood-based boards absorb moisture, swell and grow mould within a few years; aluminium does not absorb water and termites cannot damage it. You can still have a wood-look or laminate finish on the doors.

Yes. The work is the same; the difference is approval. Condos need MCST approval and set working hours, and landed homes may need checks on older pipes. We have completed projects from Skywaters Residences, The Marq on Paterson Hill, Sculputra Ardmore, Le Nouvel Ardmore, Nassim Park Residences, and more.
